Week Two

Lesson Plans

This week, students will:

  • use their understanding of fair sharing whole numbers into equal groups to partition one whole into equal fractional sections. Students partition a whole into halves, thirds, fourths, and eighths.
  • understand that a fraction 1/b is the quantity formed by 1 part of a whole partitioned into b equal parts.
  • work with puzzles involving selecting fractions of size 1/b to create a fraction a/b.
